Songs From Hindi Movie Sagar

The movie opens with Najma (Smita Patil) decking herself up in a flat in Mumbai. She soon entertains a guest, Akhtar Hussain, who turns out to be her love interest. He talks of an argument at his house with his father who had asked him to marry the daughter of an affluent cement factory owner. Akhtar claims that he refused the offer and had told his father that he will marry the woman of his choice. At being asked by Najma about when they would get married, Akhtar reveals that in order to marry against the wishes of the family it is necessary that he start earning his own living. He further assures the crestfallen Najma that one Shakir Khan, a middle-aged man working in the gulf area, who would soon be coming to their place, would help him with the money to set up some business. Najma is apprehensive of Shakir Khan's stay with her but Akhtar says that there is no other way as after all, the flat has been provided for by Shakir Khan himself. As the evening proceeds, it is revealed that Najma has received many letters from her home for the past six years however, she never reads them as she still hasn't forgiven her family for forcing her into selling herself in order to earn some money for the family. She had been willing to engage in some other work but her mother had insisted that the pride of the Nawaabs that they had once been would be tarnished if she becomes a working woman and so it would be better to sell the body instead as it is only for a night and can be accomplished secretly. As Akhtar spends the night at Najma's, she remembers how on one of his visits Akhtar had offered to take her with him with a hope of marrying her soon and she too had run away with him.

Vidyasagar was born to Ramachandra Rao, a musician, and Sooryakantham in Vizianagaram, Andhra Pradesh.[3] He was named after the 19th century social reformer Ishwar Chandra Vidyasagar. Vidyasagar became an independent film composer with the song En Anbe in the 1989 Tamil movie Poomanam. Vidyasagar started his music career with a Tamil film, he gained recognition good in the Tamil music industry at a later stage. He shifted base to Telugu cinema in 1989.

From 1996 to 2001 Vidyasagar mainly concentrated on Malayalam films.[4] During this period, Vidyasagar also composed for a few Tamil movies like Nilaave Vaa and Uyirodu Uyiraga. He won three Kerala State Film Awards. About his stint in the Malayalam Cinema, Vidyasagar was quoted saying "I believe that it was a God sent opportunity for me to work in one of the finest film industries".[4]

In 2007, Vidyasagar was signed by Prakash Raj for his production venture Mozhi starring Prithviraj Sukumaran and Jyothika. Hi Sunil Malhotra,Thanks for visiting and writing in with your own suggestions to the post. But I think there is some confusion here as the songs you have mentioned are not having much similarities in their compositions as I strongly feel."Teri duniya se door chale hoke majboor" (Zabak) and "Lagi choootena ab to Sanam" (Kaali Topi Lal Rumal) don't really have any similar progression but YES they can be sung together without any major difference in the main chord.Plus "Hey Babu Yeh Hai Zamana Tera" form 1956s Bhagam Bhag has been used as a tribute in the track of 2006 Bhagam Bhag but the song post that particular part is quite different. However to make it more clear I would like to mention two more compositions with similar Mukhraz (Sthayi) just sent to me in a message at Facebook. And the tracks are :1. Simti Hui Yeh Ghadiyan (Chambal Ki Kasam) and2. Yeh Zulf Agar Khul Ke (Kaajal)Also if you wish to read it in more details, just check out the following article at the site :"The Art of making new songs from already released tracks" =postid050113060820Cheers!

Instead of composing these songs in a typical classical style which may appeal only to a select niche audience, our music directors have time and again proved their mettle to draw inspiration from our vast legacy of classical music and modify it to suit the mood and setting of the visual medium of cinema.

Trust a genius music director like Ravindra Jain to use this beautiful raga to come up with a mesmerizing bhajan for the film Geet Gaata Chal. The movie which launched child actors Sachin and Sarika in adult roles is remembered till today for the superb songs. Sung in the voices of Jaspal Singh and Aarti Mukherjee-two singers who did not get the attention they deserved in Bollywood, this remains till today remains one of the best bhajans composed for Hindi films.
