I have two possible solutions for you. Apple's Image Scan software works with most scanners. It is not full featured, though. Try it out and see if it works. Or you can download and try the VueScan app for free to see if it works. It works with most scanners and is fully Big Sur compliant. There is a reasonable one time fee for it. It is full featured. I purchased it and recommend it. (I have no association with VueScan.)

Hi, it is me again........ I have done all that you mentioned in the last reply. Yes, I have downloaded the software from "Neat scanner drivers for Windows or Mac." to no avail. Finally, I removed all NEAT items (NET Desktop.app, and all Drivers from /Library/Image Capture/Devices that had anything to do with NEAT) and removed the NEAT ADF scanner from System Preferences. Restarted in Safe mode, and tried Image Capture again. Same result, as before. I guess I have a NEAT ADF scanner Brick that I will put in my store room until someone comes up with a 3rd party workaround that will reactivate the scanner.
I have the same problem. I went through the steps with NSDK3 error. I tried the download link and am getting a message that my membership expired. I can't re-download the software? Never heard of that with a scanner before.
Neat 4.5 for Mac was available to download from the developer's website when we last checked. We cannot confirm if there is a free download of this app available. The application belongs to Design & Photo Tools. This free Mac application was originally designed by ilia. The most popular versions of the program are 4.3, 4.1 and 4.0. The Neat installer is commonly called neat-4.0.3.153-release.dmg. We recommend checking the downloaded files with any free antivirus.
Neat (formerly Neat Works) is a powerful scanning and digital filing system that enables you to scan and organize receipts, business cards, and documents. Unlike other scanning software, Neat Works for Mac uses patented technology to identify and extract the important information from your paper—and automatically organizes it for you in a digital filing cabinet.
Great article, just was researching Paperless by Mariner and it looks like a great option. However their website states that they offer a discount if you have been using an alternate software such as neat. They ask you to contact them for details, and when I did so I was told that they do not offer that discount. While I still may have purchased the software without the discount, the fact that customer service did not seem bothered by the inaccuracy on their website makes me pause as I am wondering what customer service will be like if I have a problem with the program.
Maybe this will help someone else. I was able to get my old neat scanner working with the NEAT driver and NAPS2 software. I set it as a WIA scanner, and had to set the brightness and contrast up a bit in the profile, but I was able to get good scans repeatedly after that. My settings are 24-bit color, 250 brightness, 150 contrast.
Since several people have asked about the Fujitsu Scansnap software, I would just like to mention that Scansnap Receipt is very good and can be downloaded for free. Here is a very good review: -receipt/
Same boat. I switch over to Quicken. I find it works fine for me for must basic accounting and taking care of personal finances. I can still use the neat scanner to scan my receipts into file if I want, and then I use those scans to verify transactions in Quicken. Still play with it, but seems to be working well for me.
Is there any way to covert my current Neat Software (Windows) files ? I am going to have to look for a NEAT replacement as well not only scanner wise but software wise as well. I put all my receipts and documents into the neat software. Several years worth
After a two year experiment with ShoeBoxed (and much frustration and forever lost receipts) I came upon the NeatWorks software. During the same time I started developing a Filemaker Pro Database to handle scans and documents. I decided to go with the NeatWorks option because it was giving me what I needed. I will likely continue to use it until it stops working.
Regarding the malfunction of the installation to OS X v10.8 (Mountain Lion), please refer to "I cannot install the software downloaded from the web site onto OS X v10.8 (Mountain Lion)". (S300M / S510M)
Maybe this glorious pipe dream works just great on a PC. The demo sure wasWindows-based. But when I got my little bundle of joy in the mail, plugged itin, and started scanning in receipts, I discovered the fatal flaw. The software,a dreadful piece of bloated crapusculence known as NeatWorks, is absolutely, 100percent horrible.
Negatives: Waste of money to to pay for bundled software; company support ismediocre; could really use some kind of click-sliding paper guide like ink-jetprinters have to keep receipts and business cards scanning straight. 2ff7e9595c
